Business name: Patricia’s Presents

Address: 164 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel

Owner: Patricia “Patti” Polk

Business background: I am a graduate of FIT — Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC. My major was in merchandising and buying, and I studied Jewelry Design. I worked in a New York Buying Office, purchasing merchandise for out-of-town stores. I opened Patricia’s Presents in Bethel on September 15. We were previously located in Ridgefield since 2013. Before then, I was wholesale to the trade with jewelry only. We sold all over the world. I did many craft shows, which were a lot of fun, and I started doing dog and horse shows. That led me to a show in New Hampshire, where I met my first landlord in Ridgefield, who convinced me to have my own store.

Business focus: I sell a lot of women’s clothing, jewelry, and handbags. We also have pillows, Christmas stockings, snow globes, a section for kids, and fun gift items. It’s important to me to do a lot of fair-trade items and items made in America.

Important to know: The store is fun. It’s whimsical. What I find to be interesting is people walk around the store, then lap around again because they feel they’ve missed a lot. We’re definitely pet and equestrian centered, too.

Near future promotions, events, seasonal specials: On November 7, with the other stores in the area, we are doing a Shopping Night with MacaroniKid. It’s going to be a sip-and-shop with sweets where we’ll stay open late. Some of the Truck Shows to come include with Gemini Jewelry and Dog Beds By Helen. Call for more information.

Hours: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday by chance or appointment; and Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from noon to 6 pm.
