To the Editor:

We would like to thank everyone who supported the efforts to the Independent Party of Newtown in this election. Our success was a direct result of your stellar support for our candidates and our platform.

We are honored to receive the level of support for our efforts to be elected to represent District 2 on the Legislative Council. As newly elected Legislative Council members, we intend to continue our work to improve our community on your behalf.

We would also like to thank our fellow IPN candidates, Gianine Crowell, our treasurer, Joan Plouffe, and Ruby Johnson for all their hard work. Although not all candidates were elected, they made invaluable contributions in raising the level of debate in our community on important issues. There is little doubt that the support they garnered contributed to Joe Borst’s election as our new first selectman. You are a tremendously talented, dedicated, and professional group of individuals. Just a few months ago, we barely knew each other. We all came together joined by the belief that we could take our community in a new and wonderful direction. It has been wonderful getting to know all of you, and a privilege to stand with you during this campaign.

Finally, we want to thank our families for their patience and understanding during the past few years as we have become more involved in our community and now in our town government. Without your encouragement and support, we could not have achieved the level of success that we have.

Our first meeting as the new official Independent Party of Newtown is on Monday, November 19, at 8 pm at the VFW Hall. We invite any Newtown citizen interested in becoming involved with IPN and working to help make our community better to join us.
