My Dog Brand Chili Peppers 7, DINA Hippos 6: The Hippos scored three runs in the last inning to but came up short. For the My Dog Brand Chili Peppers, Haley Ryan had two hits including a triple. Katie Reilly, Tegan Doherty and Emma Short each had two hits and Clare Hull added a double. Emma Short and Sidney Flint pitched very well. For DINA, Leah Hushion played great defense. Monique Dubios and Anna Harrison led the offense.
Creative Mailing Services 3, Newtown Hardware 2: The Creative Mailing Pink Penguins scored two runs in the fifth and came from behind in their last at bat and pulled out an exciting victory to capture first place going into the playoffs. Creative Mailing was led by the strong pitching of Emily Bell, Madeline Meier and Katie Laaksonen. Christina Moore and Emily Bell each got on base with a single in the final inning, bringing up Madeline Meier and Katie Laaksonen who delivered with hard hit singles to drive in the tying and winning run in a walk-off victory. For the Newtown Hardware Yellow Peeps, Bridget Duero and Julia Scarangella led the offense with an RBI each. Ashley Gong and Isabella Luciano both pitched well and Lauren Villamana and Jillian Gibney did a nice job behind the plate.
Creative Mailing Services 8, DINA 3: With a well-balanced attack, Creative Mailing completed the regular season with an 8-3 victory over DINA. Kelsey Nicholson, Katie Laaksonen, Cassidy Keller and Christina Moore all had multiple hits and runs scored to lead the CMS offense. The defense was sparked by a line-drive double play turned by Emily Bell at second base. For DINA, Kelly Merrick was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored and Grace Frost and Sydney âTinoâ DiMartino each had solid hits. Shannon Lynch pitched a couple strong innings and Jillian Lasorsa, Merrick and DiMartino played well defensively.
