Someone Steadfast
Someone Steadfast
To the Editor
In the 1940s, âEvitaâ Peron gained wide media acclaim as a supporter of the common people. She was adored by the public. In reality, she helped her husband, the then president of Argentina, take over the unions, place family and friends in positions of authority, persecute those who disagreed with the administration, and skim millions of dollars from charities and working people, devastating the economy of Argentina. Unfortunately, her untimely death helped mask the truth of her corruption. Hopefully history is not repeating itself.
The good news is we do have someone, steadfast, and unchanging, in whom we can place our trust. Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon those who do not believe in You, those of us that have become lukewarm, and those who have separated themselves from Your Sonâs Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. So not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart.
