Architech Opens In River North
(with cut)
CHICAGO, ILL. -- Chicago's only commercial gallery of architectural art will
open at 730 North Franklin, Suite 200 in River North on Thursday, December 3.
Former Kelmscott Gallery manager David Jameson has assembled one of America's
most diverse collections of architectural art. The Kelmscott collection of
architectural art and design from the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries has
been merged with his own holdings of drawings, engravings and photographs from
Europe and America.
The combination of the two collections will offer collectors drawings from the
offices of Chicago's Daniel Burnham and Alfonso Lannelli, England's Owen Jones
and France's Eugene Emmanuel Viollet le Duc.
Photographs by Berenice Abbott, Richard Nickel, Jay King and A. George Miller,
as well as lithographs by Frank Lloyd Wright and Owen Jones will be available.
Etchings and engravings from the Eighteenth, Nineteenth and Twentieth
Centuries that illuminate buildings from Giovanni Battista Piranesi's Roman
ruins to Chester Danforth's Loop skyscrapers will complete the initial
offerings.
In January ArchiTech will present "Fantasy Pavilions, A Century of Progress."
Hours will be Thursdays through Saturdays, noon to 6 pm. Call 773/989-1927 for
more information.
