*DROPKICK MURPHYS, the Boston-based Irish-punk band probably best known for “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” (although much better than just that single), will be performing at Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday, March 13, with special guest Against Me!

Tickets are $24.50 and will go on sale Saturday, December 18, at 10 am, through TicketMaster outlets. Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun box office beginning on Sunday, subject to availability.

*Meanwhile, local guys THE ADULTS have a handful of shows coming up (including one Thursday, December 16, at The One-Eyed Pig in Newtown – for those of you who read us the moment we come off the presses and update the website each Thursday afternoon, the band will be hosting this week’s open mic night).

The Adults will finish their December performance schedule with a show at The Lumberyard Pub in Georgetown (West Redding) on Friday, December 17.

Following a break for Christmas and New Year’s, The Adults will host another pair of open mics at The One-Eyed Pig (Thursdays, January 13 and 27), and will also do a headlining performance on Friday, January 21, at The Cookhouse in New Milford.

There is also a show scheduled for Friday, February 25, at Proud Mary’s in Newtown.

*Next Monday night, the finalists from the Hip Hop Showcase events that have taken place this month at Toad’s Place in New Haven will be competing to find out who will be opening for WU-TANG CLAN on Sunday, December 26. Tickets for Monday night (December 20) are $10.

The Wu-Tang show still has tickets available as well, priced at $40.

Meanwhile, LAURYN HILL will be performing at the New Haven venue on Wednesday night. Tickets for her December 22 show are also still available, priced at $50.

Next month the club is hosting something called Woofstock, sponsored by Bikers Against Annual Cruelty. Tickets are $10 whether you get them in advance or on the day of the show, and all of the money raised by the 501(c)(3) organization through the event will be used to “help the innocent victims of animal cruelty and neglect, as well as promoting responsible pet ownership,” according to publicity materials.

Doors will open at noon and performances will be offered by the acoustic duo WITH A TWIST, THIS TIME DOWN, GATE HOUSE BLUES, BRING THE KNIFE, Robin Trower tribute band TWICE REMOVED and Judas Priest tribute SOLAR ANGELS.

In addition to financial donations, Bikers Against Animal Cruelty will be collecting shelter donations of pet food, blankets, cleaning supplies and anything else that will help homeless animals.

*Two years ago we had the release of the Elvis Presley-Martina McBride video for “Blue Christmas,” where it looked very much like McBride (who was 2 years old when the 1968 “Comeback” TV special was originally taped and aired) was sitting right next to and singing the Christmas carol with the King.

Another new production is offering a similar idea on a larger scale. ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT will be at Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, February 12, at 8 pm. The production reunites former Elvis bandmates live on stage with a state-of-the-art video-projected Elvis. Concert footage comes primarily from material shot for the MGM concert films Elvis, That’s The Way It Is (1970) and Elvis on Tour (1972) and from the historic 1973 global television special Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, via Satellite.

The show’’s concept is to present an authentic as possible Elvis Presley concert pulled together from a collection of concert performances, which is projected on a large video screen. On stage, a 16-piece orchestra and some of Elvis original bandmates, including Joe Guercio (Elvis’s orchestra conductor) and members from The Imperials and The TCB Band, perform live to accompany the video. All music heard in the concert production is performed live except for Elvis’s voice. The performances on either side of the screen are happening live on stage.

Tickets are $40 and $60, and go on sale Friday, December 17, at 10 am, through TicketMaster. Tickets will also be available at the casino’s box office beginning on Saturday, December 18, subject to availability.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.
