Lakers Win U15 Division Of All Star Tourney

Four Newtown boys who play on the Connecticut Lakers’ summer travel lacrosse team, out of New Fairfield, competed in the U15 division of the New England Youth Lacrosse All Star Tournament held at the University of Massachusetts, July 9-10. The Lakers went undefeated against other regional teams from neighboring states including New York (Long Island), New Hampshire, and Massachusetts to capture the championship crown.

Brandon Powell had multiple assists to cutting teammates, and had two key goals during championship game. CJ Dunn had plenty of energy all weekend long, led the defense in takeaways, and had vital clears. Midfielder Colton Smith played tough defense, glided past opponents to lead the Lakers’ offense, recorded first hat-trick. Nick Rubino, long pole middie, used his power and speed on defense to shutdown opposing high scorers.
