Inconsistent Behavior

During this year’s budget deliberations, The Newtown Bee reported that “Selectman Will Rodgers recused himself from the vote because his wife Moira is on the library board.” The same article further states, “Another area where Mr Rodgers recused himself involved the probate court request — Moira Rodgers was Newtown’s latest probate judge.”

However when it came to his private law practice, Selectman Rodgers had no problem representing the estate of Edwin Frank Dudeck in his wife’s court (Probate Court Notice published in The Newtown Bee dated August 6, 2010).

Many people may think that this is a major conflict of interest, but Mr Rodgers apparently does not.

Poor decisionmaking and inconsistent behavior is the last thing we need at this or anytime in Newtown. We need elected officials who serve the people not themselves. I urge my fellow Newtowners to remember this when you go to the polls this November.
