The Open Space Initiative
The Open Space Initiative
To the Editor:
Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah, for the recent report from âThe Trust for Public Landâ and our local elected officials who are endorsing the townâs purchase of quality, open space land parcels. While we realize the details or process for acquiring open space land and slowing residential growth have yet to be formulated, we wholeheartedly support this initiative. Most likely, Fairfield Hills is the largest open space purchase the town will ever make, but it is not enough. We must preserve and protect from development, not only Fairfield Hills, but many more acres.
Newtown remembers this ancient proverb, âThis land was not given to you by your parents, it is loaned to you by your children.â
Again, hats off to our leaders.
