Celiac Sprue To Meet March 11
DANBURY â Two dietitians from Danbury Hospital will talk about a gluten-free diet for life for members of the Nutmeg Celiac Support Group on Friday, March 11, at 7:30 pm, at the Center for Behavioral Health.
Nancy Salem, a registered dietitician, and Jennifer Kane, dietitian intern, will discuss a diet that excludes wheat, oats, barley, and rye grains. Ms Kane is a culinary graduate of Johnson & Wales University and is working on recipes using gluten-free grains for persons who have the celiac sprue condition.
The public is welcome. Members are available to advise those who have been recently diagnosed and have suggestions about shopping and cooking with gluten-free foods.
The center is accessible from I-84, Exit 4, on Lake Avenue and Oil Mill Road, with parking next to the building. For more information call 426-8223 or 203-438-6108.
