Sobriety Checkpoint Planned For

July 15/16

During the nighttime hours of Saturday July 15, and early morning hours of Sunday July 16, town police plan to hold a sobriety checkpoint on an unspecified local road. The event is slated to run from 7 pm to 3 am.

Each vehicle traveling through the checkpoint will be briefly stopped. Motorists will be interviewed to determine if they are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to police.

Drivers found to be under the influence will be arrested and transported to the police station for arrest processing.

Police also will be enforcing seatbelt laws during the checkpoint, among other motor vehicle laws.

More sobriety checkpoints are slated for the coming months.
