Natalie How    Hermandorfer

Dedicated Wife,

Mother, And Active Easton Resident

Natalie How Hermandorfer, 78, of Easton, beloved wife of the late Alfred J. Hermandorfer, died October 7 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born in Broadway Flushing, N. Y., October 16, 1927.

She attended schools in Douglaston, N.Y., and Norwalk, graduating from Norwalk High in 1946 as valedictorian. Mrs Hermandorfer attended Colby College and the University of Connecticut, graduating with distinction from UConn in 1952.

She served as director of women’s activities at the Danbury War Memorial before dedicating her life to marriage, family, friends, and community. An active wife and mother in church, school, and community in Newtown and Cabot, Ark., she had been an Easton resident for the past 30 years, remembered by many for her work with the Congregational Church, the Easton Library, the Easton Historical Society, for the hundreds of hats she knitted for the Easton Senior Center, and for her creative Halloween celebrations. She cherished most the relationships and experiences she shared with friends and family at each stop along her life’s journey.

Mrs  Hermandorfer is survived by her three children and spouses, Wayne and Carol Hermandorfer of Clifton, Va.; Lee and Kirk Underschultz of Little Hocking, Ohio; and Gale Hermandorfer of Honolulu, Hawaii; her brother, Captain USCG (Ret) A.B. How of Portsmouth, Va.; and three grandsons, Greg Hermandorfer of Herndon, Va.; Nick Hermandorfer, Princeton University, N.J.; and Andrew J. Hermandorfer, Avon Old Farms School, Avon.

A memorial service was scheduled for Friday, October 13, at 11 am, in the Congregational Church of Easton, 336 Westport Road, Easton. She will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
