Tercentennial Portraits

To the Editor:

On Saturday, September 10, between 6 and 8 pm, the C.H. Booth Library hosted a reception to celebrate the Tercentennial Portraits on display in the Olga Knoepke Memorial Room. These portraits represent some of the people, who over a 300-year period have enhanced Newtown’s growth and possibilities for the future.

A large turnout made for a lively evening with some visitors coming from as far away as Michigan.

Thanks go to Jill and Mike Kerler of Sandy Hook Wine and Liquor for donating some of the liquid refreshments, and to Tom Johnson at Lexington Gardens for the arrangements, both silk and fresh, that graced the entrance to the exhibit and the buffet table.

Some members of the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists donated their creativity, supplies, and time to bring these portraits to fruition. A collaborative spirit by the library, portrait society, and living models made for a memorable evening.
