Newtown’s Three Winter Guard Squads Earn Top Honors

Newtown’s Junior, Scholastic AAA (junior varsity) and Scholastic National A (varsity) Winter Guards felt the love on Valentine’s Day as all three brought home first-place trophies from the Winter Guard

competition at Brookfield High School on February 14.

The Junior Guard bettered its previous score by more than 6 points, the Junior Varsity Guard bested three other guards to bring home the first place trophy, and the Varsity Guard was awarded the highest score of the entire competition.

The next competition for the Varsity Winter Guard is the World Guard International February 28 and 29 competition at Trumbull High School. All three Newtown Guard levels will compete on March 7 at

Norwalk High School.
