A Successful Fundraiser
A Successful Fundraiser
To the Editor:
The Donate To Skate latest fundraising event that was held at Vertigo Skate Park in Brookfield last Friday night was an unusual event and a success in many ways.
The event, featuring a contest to find the best skateboarding video and action shot photo, went spectacularly well. With the help of Vertigo allowing us to hold this event at their skate park  and New Hope Community Church in Newtown lending us their projector and laptop to show the videos on a very large screen combined with Vertigoâs elaborate sound system the event was a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone.
The look on the skatersâ faces when they saw their videos and photos was priceless. We have thanks to give and here it goes.
To Vertigo for all their support on an ongoing basis in helping us reach our goal for our own skate park in Newtown. To Pastor Jim Solomon for the use of the video equipment. To Tony, owner of Andreaâs bake shop, for the delicious array of baked goods. To Jeff from Dunkinâ Donuts in Newtown for always supplying the java at every event! To all the volunteers and committee members for Donate To Skate who helped at the event. To Newtown Parks and Recreation for their constant support. To Mark Tambascio for giving away large pizza coupons as part of some of the prizes. To all the people who made donations for our cause. To The Newtown Bee and Channel 17 for promoting the event. Donate To Skate extends a warm thank you to all of you.
We hope to hold this event again soon. To keep informed about all the news for the Donate To Skate campaign and to make a donation, go to donatetoskate.com.
