Annâs Place Festival Of Trees Beckons
DANBURY â What if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer? Where would you go or who would you turn to?
Since 1991, families, friends, and neighbors have been turning to Annâs Place, The Home of I Can, community cancer support services agency. Free of charge, Annâs Place provides support and renews hope for those touched by cancer.
The agencyâs annual Festival of Trees has become an essential part of funding the operating expenses for Annâs Place, and the 7th Annual Festival is set for November 20â22, at the Danbury Plaza Hotel & Conference Center (Exit 2 off I-84).
The festival offers a weekend of affordable, family fun. Throughout the event, more than a thousand people are expected to attend the festival activities.
âThis is a wonderful holiday experience for the whole family,â commented Wilda Hayes, executive director of Annâs Place. âFrom the moment you enter the ballroom and stroll through the spectacularly decorated trees, you can see the results of a community coming together to help those in need. Every tree, wreath and quilt at the festival represents another member of our caring community stepping forward to lend a helping hand. And, with all the activities planned this year, the festival is sure to create lasting memories for attendees of all ages.â
Walk amid 85 dazzling trees; join in on the joy of a childrenâs tea party; view childrenâs LEGO masterpieces and an original life-size LEGO exhibit; shop for the holidays in the festivalâs exquisite boutique; purchase hand-fashioned quilted items, wreaths, homemade and hand-knit items; unwind with live entertainment; even win a diamond from Jewelry Designs or an exciting raffle prize.
A preview cocktail party and tree auction kicks off the Festival on Friday, November 20, and offers an opportunity for supporters to preselect a special tree for the office or home. Or attend this yearâs Evergreens Jazz Jam on Saturday, November 21, and enjoy an evening of live jazz echoing through magical evergreens.
There is also a âMy Friend & Me Tea,â a proper English tea for children ages three and up accompanied by an adult, Saturday at noon, 2 and 4 pm; or Sunday at noon and 2 pm. Tea Party admission is $15.
