Walk In Support Of St Rose
Walk In Support Of St Rose
To the Editor:
I encourage you to participate in the Harvest 5k Run and Walkathon this Sunday at Fairfield Hills. It will be a great time for all and it will help out one of the pillars of our community â St Rose School. Race time is 1 pm.
St Rose School is such an important part of our community; for those families whose kids go there full time, like mine, as well as for those many families whose kids go there for catechism. Having last year received the Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence, the highest award a school can achieve, St Rose faculty and administrative staff have shown that they are a first class operation, worthy of community support. The success of the school is in large part due to the very reasonable tuition costs, about half that of a public school education. This is largely due to fundraising efforts, of which the walkathon has always been among the biggest.
Over the years St Rose has had hundreds come out to participate in the walkathon and this year theyâre looking for hundreds more to join them in the first 5k run and cross the finish line of what will hopefully be an annual event. And because this event also doubles as a Walkathon, itâs a great venue for novice runners and first timers.
Cash prizes will be $100 for the first place winners male and female, and a $50 prize for first place male and female finishers under the age of 13.
The entry fee for the run is $18, or $22 on the day of the race. The first 25 to register will receive a free T-shirt. No fee for walkers. Visit http://www.strosefund.com.
With crisp clear weather in the forecast, Sunday promises to be a real fall classic. So why not come out to Fairfield Hills, challenge your body and support a great school.
