Margaret O. Hemingway, 76, of Burlington, Vt., died unexpectedly May 18 at the Fletcher-Allen Health Care in Burlington.
She was born in Winooski, Vt., on April 3, 1927, the daughter of the late Francis and Nora (Flynn) OâHara.
She is survived by three daughters, Frances Gibbs and her husband, Steven, and their children, Stephanie and Sean of North Pole, Alaska, Kathleen Hemingway and her husband, Joe Dula, of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Deborah Hemingway of Burlington; two sons, Willard James and his wife, Bernadette, and their daughter, Allison, of Ocean View, Del., and Joseph and his wife, Maribeth, and their children, Sarah and Maggie, of Sandy Hook; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Francis, and Thomas OâHara.
Margaret was a graduate of Burlington High School, Class of 1944, and graduated from New England Credit Union School at the University of New Hampshire in 1973.
On November 8, 1947, Margaret was married in St Patrickâs Chapel at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Burlington, to Willard C. Hemingway who predeceased her on August 3, 1991.
Margaret was the manager of the GE Employees Credit Union for many years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and belonged to the Daughters of Isabella.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on May 22 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with interment following in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

The Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington, was in charge of arrangements.
