Landscape In Pastels, Free Demo On July 25
Rae Smith will be demonstrating in pastel at the next meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) on Wednesday, July 25, at 1:30 pm. Her subject will be a landscape.
This meeting is open to the public and will be held at Newtown Meeting House (lower level), 31 Main Street in Newtown (lower level). All are welcome and admission is free.
Rae Smith has exhibited her expressive, impressionistic pastel paintings in juried exhibitions throughout the United States as well as Japan, China, and Canada. Her work has won many awards in juried exhibitions and has been published in well known art magazines and journals. Many of her awards have been top awards.
Ms Smith was elected Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America, having won more than three awards at the National Arts Club, NYC. Her popular pastels and oils range in subject, depicting goldfish ponds, the dunes of Ocean City and other local landscapes.
Ms Smith is listed in the Directory of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers and in Whoâs Who in American Art. She is presently on the teaching staff of Katonah Art Center, Katonah, N.Y.
Ms Smithâs work was included in an exhibition at The Butler Institute of American Art in January and February, and in an exhibition in Taiwan this past spring. She is presently represented in the PSA Exhibition at the Noyes Museum in Oceanville, N.J., as well as at The Jacqueline Boyd Fine Art Gallery in Brigantine, N.J. Next month she is scheduled to participate in an invitational exhibit at the Creative Art Center in Chatham, Mass.
