‘Birds’ Program

At Garden Club

DANBURY — Margaret Warner, a Newtown resident and longtime member of Danbury Garden Club, will present a program on birds during the next meeting of Danbury Garden Club. The group will be meeting in the home of a member on Friday, May 19, at 10:30 am.

Non-members and anyone interested in the club are always welcome to attend meetings. Because the group is meeting in a private home this month, directions to the member’s home will be given at the time reservations are made.

Margaret Warner has been watching and feeding birds in her backyard for 50 years, encouraging her three children to join her in her hobby. For several years she has offered current information on bird activities and read stories about birds at the garden club meetings. At one time, Danbury Garden Club conducted a feeder count in members’ yards similar to Audubon bird counts.

Mrs Warner has been a member of Danbury Garden Club since 1978. She is an honorary life member of Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, Inc.

For additional information about Danbury Garden Club or to attend the May 19 meeting, call 860/355-1270.

According the American Kennel Club registrations, Labrador Retrievers are the most popular dog breed.

Connecticut harvests about 3.5 million pounds of lobster annually.
