Keep The Holidays Safe From Foodborne Illness
Keep The Holidays Safe From Foodborne Illness
STORRS â During the holidays, consumers will want to be sure the festive family times are not âspoiledâ by any unwelcome âfoodborne bugs.â The University of Connecticut (UConn) Cooperative Extension System announces a new Web site designed specifically for Connecticut consumers to help prevent foodborne illness in the home.
By visiting http://www.canr.uconn.edu/ces/foodsafety, consumers will be able to view and download over 40 fact sheets; be linked to other food safety Web sites; be linked to local, state, and federal agencies concerned with food safety; request a free bookmark; learn where to go for more help; or e-mail a food safety question directly to a UConn Cooperative Extension food safety specialist for an answer.
Consumers without Internet access can request copies of individual fact sheets by calling the UConn Home and Garden Education Center, toll-free at 877/486-6271.
This project was funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). For more information, contact Cooperative Extension Educator Diane Hirsch, at 203/407-3163.
