YMCA CIT Program Popular Among Area Teens
BRROKFIELD â The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticutâs Counselor in Training (CIT) program is designed for teens ages 14 and 15 years old. The program helps strengthen their leadership skills as well as prepare them to become camp counselors. The Yâs unique program incorporates guest speakers, mini-lectures geared to weekly themes, and most importantly time with camp groups at the Greenknoll Day Camp in Brookfield.
âThe CIT program is a great learning experience for us,â Amy Sheeran said. âIt provides us with many opportunities, including working with younger kids, and teaches us the responsibilities with counselors. This will also benefit in our future careers.â
Melissa Papp enjoyed the program so much last year she returned for a second year.
âLast year I learned a lot. This year I am learning even more,â she said. âEvery day is filled with new challenges and fun things to be done. Thatâs why I keep coming back.â
The CIT program runs in weekly sessions through the end of the summer. Spaces are limited. For more information, call Jason Dvorkin at 203-775-9363.
