Rotary's Annual Landscaping Party For Datahr House
Rotaryâs Annual Landscaping Party For Datahr House
The Ability Beyond Disability (formerly known as Datahr) house in Hawleyville benefited when Newtown Rotary held its regular Monday evening meeting at their premises. More than 25 members gathered to have an annual landscaping night and picnic with the residents.
A few years ago Newtown rotary adopted the house, which houses eight residents. Since then, the Rotarians have held Christmas parties, had the driveway and parking area paved, landscaped the grounds each year, took the residents to a Ravens game, and held summer picnics.
There are more than 40 such houses in the greater Danbury area run by Ability Beyond Disability (ABD). Headquartered in Brookfield, the nonprofit agency works with those who are handicapped to help them enjoy independent living in one of the many group homes.
Ability Beyond Disability is looking for local organizations to adopt these homes and provide help, assistance, and camaraderie for the residents. Further information can be obtained by calling ABD at 775-2700.
Newtown Rotary supports many projects that help to improve life in the community and the world and help to make the world a better place for the next generation.
