Safe Surgery

Yale-New Haven Hospital has published a new fact sheet called “Have a Positive Surgical Experience” that highlights the growing emphasis on safety in the operating room.

It explains how the site of surgery now is marked with a permanent marker and various members of the team check the patient’s identity. There are also tips on proving anesthesiologists with information on medications and herbal products that can have serious effects on anesthesia.
