ON THE ROAD WITH SHANNON HICKS
Just announced is another return by ANI DiFRANCO, who will be at The Bushnell
in Hartford on Friday, October 1. Tickets are going on sale for DiFranco's
show Saturday morning (Aug 21) at 10 am, all at $24.50 each.
DiFranco is touring this fall to support her latest release, Up Up Up Up Up ,
which is the first album she has recorded with her new band. Julie Wolf on
keyboards and Jason Mercer on bass have joined DiFranco and longtime drummer
Andy Stochansky.
Bushnell tickets are available through the Bushnell box office, or by calling
860/987-5900 or 888/824-2874.
An open jam is planned for Sunday night (August 22) at Cafe Nine in New Haven
with the band SOL DOG. After playing one set, lead singer Rev DiCerto will
hand over the mic and let anyone who wants to sit in with the band. If you're
interested in performing with the band, bring your own instrument -- I'm told
pretty much anything goes with these guys when they play these open shows.
(For directions, the club can be reached at 789-8281).
When THE LISTINGS performs at Laszlo's Arts Cafe in Monroe next week, the band
will be making a recording for its next CD. The show is planned for Thursday,
August 26. The cafe is at 179 Main Street (Route 25) in Monroe, and showtime
is 8 pm.
KARLING ABBEYGATE & THE MONKS OF LOVE begins a four-month late summer and fall
tour to support Glory Girl , its new White Trash Records release, later this
month. The band will be at The Village Cafe in Gaylordsville on October 13.
And finally this week, a reminder that MIND TYDES will once again be playing
at Toad's Place this weekend. The band has a co-opening set alongside SMOKE
THE PROPHET on August 20; both bands are opening for SHAKEDOWN.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
