Stephen J. Wargo

Stephen J. Wargo, 92, of Johnson Drive, Sandy Hook, died March 31 in Riverglen Convalescent Home, Southbury. He was born in New Castle, N.H., April 7, 1911, son of the late Stephen and Jessie (Meloon) Wargo.

Mr Wargo was a resident of Hartford several years. He worked in the mailing room at Aetna Insurance Company. He was also employed at one time at Sage-Allen Department Store. Following his retirement he moved to Sandy Hook.

During World War II, he served in the US Army. He was attached to the Office of Strategic Services, stationed in India-Durma, as a Master Sergeant.

He is survived by two brothers, Everett Wargo of Southbury and Charlie Wargo of Tequesta, Fla.; three sisters, Anna McMahon of Sandy Hook, Barbara Booker of Woodbury, and Patricia Coman of Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 5 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Interment was at Riverview Cemetery, New Castle, N.H.
