Holocaust Survivors Meet Sept. 12

SOUTHBURY — This season’s first meeting of the Holocaust Survivors and Second Generation Group will take place on Sunday, September 12, at 10 am in the library at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North.

There will be a bagel breakfast and a chance to meet new people, catch up on news, and plan programs for the year. All area survivors and children of survivors are invited to attend this informal gathering.

At 11:30 am Abby Greenwald Peklo will join the group to talk about next May’s Yom HaShoah (Holocaust) Commemoration. The theme is “Remembering the Shoah — Honoring Our Local Legacy.” The Jewish Federation is teaming up with RBY Studios in Southbury to create an archival video honoring the local community’s Holocaust survivors. The Federation encourages all regional Holocaust survivors and children of survivors to attend this meeting to learn more about the proposed project.

For more information or to RSVP for this meeting, call Debby Horowitz, Brownstein Jewish Family Service program director at 267-3177, ext 105.
