NHS Art Students To Show Their Work

Newtown High School Art Teacher Diane Dutchick’s students will be displaying their artwork around town this month. Students in Ms Dutchick’s art portfolio class have created an extensive body of work in a variety of media.

On exhibit will be still life paintings in acrylic and oil, conceptual works based on childhood memories, self-portraits, ceramics, photography, graphics, and collage. The pieces were created both in class and outside of the classroom.

The shows kicked off December 4 at the Cyrenius H. Booth Library with works by Mike Hill, Nicole Rivieccio, and Aron Fay. Their works will be on display until December 11. Also showing at the Booth Library later this month will be Jeff Bray, Jen Blauvelt, Caitlin Norcross, Megan Petruney, and Emily Strait.

There will be shows at other venues in town.

Shannon Hayes and Jessica Halloran will have work on exhibit at the Newtown Youth Services on Glen Road this weekend, December 8 to 10. An artists’ talk will be given.

Kelly Murphy and Heather Young will show at Holmes Fine Gardens, 144 Mt Pleasant Road, on December 8 to 10. An opening reception will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

Tanya Rotella will be showing some her artwork at Sandy Hook School this month.

Lauren Herbert will show during the month of December at The Hawley School, her alma mater, and give a talk to fourth grade students.
