Angels In The Night

To the Editor

On Thursday, February 1, our daughter Renee had an accident on Button Shop Road. She was on her way home around 9 at night when her tire blew. She lost control of the car, jumped the curb, went airborne, hit a tree and rolled over. A car behind her continued right past her (how does anyone do that?). Fortunately, the second car occupied by Laura Miller and her son Zach stopped to help. Laura was able to tell us where Renee was and stayed well after the emergency help and we arrived. We cannot thank them enough.

We also need to thank all the volunteers who came out that night. Thank you to the ambulance crew. Thank you to the Botsford Fire Department. Thank you to the paramedics. We don’t remember all the names, but we will forever be grateful for your speed, for your kind and calming treatment of Renee, and for reassuring us when we felt so helpless. As a community, we all know these groups of heroic volunteers are there, ready and willing, but it is not until one is actually faced with an emergency that we fully understand how quickly they drop and respond.

Also, thank you to the Police Department who called to check on Renee. They also delivered to our home money that had fallen out of her pocket when her coat was removed in the ambulance and retrieved by the ambulance crew.

Other than a scratch on her hand and being extremely sore, Renee is perfectly fine. There were angels around her and her car that night — the heaven-sent ones and the Newtown emergency ones.
