Catherine (Cat) Maher of Newtown is in the process, this winter, of leading the St. Margaretâs-McTernan girlsâ basketball team through an undefeated season. Recently, Maher was the leading scorer in a victory over Watkinson (St. Margaretâs fifth victory of the season) and before that scored 27 points in a 51-38 win over the Williams School.
Cat began her basketball career in the Parks and Recreation Departmentâs Biddie program and then moved on to in-town and travel basketball programs. She has played AAU basketball for three years, playing on the AAU team coached by Jackie DiNardo of Danbury High School. That team was the state runners-up for the AAU nationals and attended the AAU tournament in New Orleans.
