Digital Management

Of Photographs

Ken Graff, a professional photographer for more than four decades, will present a program on digital management of photos at the Flagpole Photography Club’s meeting on Thursday, June 19. The meeting is at 7:30 pm in the C.H. Booth Library conference room, and is open to anyone with an interest in photography.

Mr Graff, considered by many in the area as the leading digital photography guru, managed the photography department at a Fortune 100 corporation for more than 30 years and traveled around the world on assignments. He presently operates a consulting business where he assists photographers in making the move from film to digital imaging. He has been a speaker for many photographic and computer groups throughout the country, showing the advantage of digital imaging. He continues to produce his own style  of artwork, a combination of photography and digital manipulation which he calls “Graffic Illusions.”

Mr Graff’s program at the Flagpole Club will feature many practical suggestions for using the Internet. He notes: “With the advent of digital photography, photographers are taking more pictures than ever. Most of those images are confined to the photographer’s computer hard drives, never to be seen.”

Mr Graff suggests the digital photographer think outside “the print” to make the most of their digital creations. His presentation will illustrate how to use free software and resources readily available on the Internet to organize and correct images in order to share with friends and family.

Attendees will gain knowledge of how to create digital photo albums, slide shows, scrapbooks, animations, special effects and more.

“The Internet is an important tool to the 21st Century photographer,” said Mr Graff.

In addition to Mr Graff’s program, the monthly print competition for the members will feature photos of farms/barns. Members will for the first time submit prints for competition in an open category as well as digitally enhanced photos utilizing the  farms/barn subject.

A slate of officers for next year will also be presented.

The subjects for the  competitions beginning in September will also be announced. The June 19 meeting will be the final for the club before its summer break.

On June 26 Flagpole members will convene for a combination social/photography shoot night at The Pleasance. Photos taken at the Pleasance, and also Ram Pasture, will be the subject for competition at the club’s November meeting. Any prospective new members for the meetings beginning in September will be welcome.  The evening will begin after 5 pm when the work day is concluded.

Information is available at the club’s website, FlagpolePhotographers.com, or by calling 270-9469.
