Occupation: Iâm a personal chef and I own a catering company in town called Aquarian Caterers. Iâve been doing this for 16 years.
Family: My husband, Bill, and I have two children. Jack is 10 years old and Olivia is 7 years old.
Pets: We have two guinea pigs. One is Grover and the other is Ellie. We got them both at Christmas. My son wants to get chickens, and we probably will. He is saving up for the coop, and doing well at that.
How long have you lived in Newtown? We have been here for ten years. We moved from Norwalk.
What do you like to do in your free time? I cook for enjoyment, and I love skiing and yoga â and drinking good wines. We like hanging out with our friends. I love reading, too, and do crafts with the children. Iâm also one of the organizers of Earth Day, and my husband and I are members of the Sustainable Energy Commission.
Do you have a favorite book? Probably Grayson, an awesome book by Lynne Cox. Itâs a true story about a young, 17-year-old woman who was training for a long distance swim across the Pacific Ocean. One morning she came across a baby whale. So itâs the story of her journey helping the whale find its way back to the mother. It is a short book, but very well written.
Do you have favorite travel destination? Italy and Nantucket. In Italy, I love the people, the food, and the wine. Thereâs a sense of feeling at home there, and turning back time a little bit. I had the good fortune to go with my parents and my children five years ago to an area called Marche, just a little south of Tuscany. We try to go to Nantucket every summer. I went there when I was little every summer, so it is nice to go now with our kids. The beaches are amazing.
What is the best thing about Newtown? Iâve made the most outstanding friendships in Newtown. I think this town is more diverse than people think. I feel really blessed that Iâve connected with so many creative and talented people. And I feel lucky our kids have such a supportive group of families that surround them.
If you could travel to the past or the future, which would you choose? I think I would like to travel into the future. We already know whatâs in the past. Iâd love to see what happens with our children, and what marks they make on the world. And Iâd like to see if we come together as a world, or separate. It would be nice to see how the here and now affects us in 100 years.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Be positive, stay focused, and make time for friends and family. Be in the moment.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done? To be between two cliffs with a rope in between, and I had to get across. It was about 80 feet high. It was pure fear that got me across. I was 17 years old, on Hurricane Island in Maine, with an Outward Bound program.
