Strawberry Festival Returning To Monroe Green This Month
Strawberry Festival Returning
To Monroe Green This Month
MONROE â The 39th Annual Monroe Congregational Church Strawberry Festival will be presented on Saturday, June 19, from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, June 20, from noon to 5 pm, on the Monroe Green, Route 111. The green is just across the street from the church, at 11 Church Street.
Freshly picked strawberries are served in strawberry shortcake, whole berry pies, smoothies and chocolate dipped creations, and jars of jam made following an award-winning recipe will be sold. In past years, over two tons of berries have been used in festival creations, with nearly 1,800 pounds of strawberries hand picked locally at Jones Family Farm in Shelton.Â
Special strawberry souvenir items will also be available.
Church members will also be grilling up hamburgers and hot dogs so that attendees can enjoy lunch or an early dinner while at the festival.
Over 100 juried crafters and fine artists from the East Coast will be selling their handmade items and paintings. Flowers, clothing, fine art, jewelry, furniture, toys, glass, pottery, crafts of wood and metal, and much more will all be available for purchase.
There is no admission fee and parking is free.
Call the church at 203-268-9327 weekdays for further information or Julie Heussner at 203-913-9326 or Angela Cross at 203-445-1941.
