Summer Carillon Concert Series

DANBURY — The Danbury Cultural Commission and St James Episcopal Church cordially invite the public for its 2011 series of midday performances on Ella S. Bulkley Carillon, at the church, 25 West Street. The 30-minute performances begin at 12:30 on Wednesday afternoons and this year’s performances  will feature internationally renowned carillonneurs.

The series opened on July 6 with a performance by Gerald Martindale, Carillonneur, Metropolitan United Church, Toronto, Canada. It will continue on July 13, with Margaret Angelini, instructor and advisor to student Guild of Carillonneurs, Wellesley College; July 20, Ellen Dickinson, a member of the board of directors for GCNA, director of music at Northfield Congregational Church in Weston, and a member of Unitarian Church in Westport; July 27, Lee B. Leach, Tilton Memorial Carillon, Norwood, Mass.; and August 3, George Matthew, Jr, Carillonneur, Middlebury College and Norwich University, Vermont.

These concerts are partially funded by the Danbury Cultural Commission and are free to the public. Chairs are placed in the Church Garden for everyone’s enjoyment. It is suggested the one bring a lunch and enjoy the open-air concerts in the middle of the day (12:30 to 1:00). A cool beverages will be available.
