Escher String Quartet, Jason Vieaux Returning
Escher String Quartet,
Jason Vieaux Returning
The Escher String Quartet with guest guitarist Jason Vieaux will return as be guests of Newtown Friends of Music on Sunday, April 1, at 3 pm, for a performance in Edmond Town Hallâs newly renovated theater.
âIâm very excited to again play music with such a wonderful young quartet!â Mr Vieaux said. âWe have been preparing new material for this season, and look forward to performing at the amazing Edmond Town Hall.â The same combination of musicians performed to rave reviews in the same venue in October 2010.
The Escher String Quartet is an ensemble which plays with great beauty of tone and supreme musicality. It takes its name from the Dutch graphic artist MC Escher and draws inspiration from the artistâs method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole.
The quartetâs members â violinist Adam Barnett-Hart Each, violinist Wu Jie, violist Pierre Lapointe and cellist Dane Johnsen â could, each in his or her own right, make it as a soloist. As a team, however, they have been revered by numerous reviewers as the ensemble to watch. Their finely honed technique and focused blend are this groupâs strong suit.
Guitarist Jason Vieaux is a musician known for virtuosic and stirring performances, imaginative programming, and uncommon communicative gifts.
For the April 1 concert in Newtown the Escher String Quartet with Jason Vieaux have scheduled a program consisting of a quintet by Luigi Boccherin, a string quartet by Respighi, a solo guitar Grande Ouverture by Giuliani, a Vivaldi concerto, and another quintet by Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
Single tickets will be available at the box office the afternoon of the concert for $20, cash or check only. Students K through 12 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. The box office will open at 2 pm.
Tickets may be purchased in advance by sending check and self-addressed envelope to Newtown Friends of Music, PO Box 295, Newtown CTÂ 06470-0295. They may also be reserved by calling 203-426-6470.
Parking is free behind Edmond Town Hall and the facility is handicap accessible with all seating providing excellent viewing and acoustics. An informal reception following the concert will offer concertgoers the opportunity to meet and mingle with the musicians.
