RIDGEFIELD â On Saturday, August 16, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, dozens of artists will display and sell their work in downtown Ridgefield stores, as well as in the park and on sidewalks, as part of Ridgefield Art Walk, a Ridgefield 300th Anniversary Celebration event.
Main Street merchants acting as gallery owners will host an artist and their work in their store and stores will be kept open late especially for the event. Many businesses will offer special discounts along with refreshments. Artists will be on hand to discuss their art, and all art is available for purchase.
Art Walk Ridgefield will kick off in Ballard Park at 5:30 pm with a lively talk about â300 Years of Art in Ridgefield,â and maps will be provided showing participating Art Walk businesses. A free raffle of artwork by two local artists, Andrea Hutter and Rachel Volpone, will also take place.
Artisans demonstrating quilting, weaving and other arts and crafts will be dispersed throughout the walk as will musicians. Childrenâs artwork will be displayed in Deborah Annâs Chocolates and The Orange Elephant.
In addition to the art and walking opportunities, the owners of Green Rocks Inn are offering a raffle prize: one nightâs stay at Green Rocks Inn, a restorative, ecofriendly inn. Anyone spending $25 at any participating store during Art Walk will be eligible to enter the raffle.
Closing ceremonies and the announcement of raffle winners will take place in the courtyard on Bailey Avenue where an informal wine tasting will take place. A Tercentennial Letterboxing table will also be stationed there.
