The Newtown Tennis Association announces the 25th annual Newtown Open Tennis Tournament – sponsored this year by Fleet Bank – will be accepting registrations throughout March. Entry forms are available at local tennis clubs or by contacting the NTA at P.O. Box 3432, Newtown, 06470.

Entry deadline is March 31, with early play beginning in April. Finals will be played the weekend of June 3 and 4 on the newly-refinished courts at Dickinson Park. If the weather does not cooperate, the semi-finals and finals will be played at Beaver Brook Tennis Club in Danbury.

Beaver Brook and Dunlop Sports are participating sponsors.

Participants may enter any two events – women’s singles, doubles, 40 singles, 40 doubles, men’s singles, men’s doubles, men’s 40 singles, men’s 40 doubles, 55 singles, 55 doubles, and mixed doubles. In any age group, participants must be that old by March 30, 2000.

Note: CIAC rules prohibit high school players from netering.

Cost of participating is $20 per player per event or $30 for two events. Fully paid entries, including proper address and phone number (including area code) of each player must be received by March 31. There will be no phone entries and no exceptions.

Draw sheets will be mailed to all players, who must arrange their own early matches by the deadlines listed.
