The American Legion Post 202 on Tinkerfield Road will hold its sixth annual Timothy Powell Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, September 15, at Western Hills Golf Course in Waterbury. The tournament will be an 18-hole shotgun start, rain or shine, using a scramble format. Registration fee is $85 per golfer, which includes 18 holes of golf with car, breakfast at the course, a steak abrbecue at the Sandy Hook Fire House, refreshments, trophies and cash prizes. Pomperaug Community Golf

The first annual Pomperaug Community Golf Tournament will be held Monday, October 16, at the peak of the fall foliage season at the Heritage Village Country Club in Southbury. The tournament will raise money to fund activities of Christian youth groups in the Oxford-Southbury-Woodbury area. Entry fee is $125 ($135 after September 16) and includes greens fees, carts, contests, prizes and dinner at the Country Tavern. Adult and youth volunteers are needed on this day, as well. Dr Cersonsky, Jay and Dale Ambrose, Derby Avenue Auto Sales, Models by Renee, Opthalmic Surgical Associates, Southbury Food Center, Specialists in Women’s Health Care, Tegeler Insurance Company, Ben Inskeep Memorial Fund, Hine Brothers, and St. Pierre Oil Company are all sponsors of the tournament.
