‘The Great Emancipator’ At East Hill Woods

SOUTHBURY — On Tuesday, February 20, beginning at 7:15 pm, at East Hill Woods, Lewis Dube will present his one-man play Portrait of Lincoln, in which he portrays the Great Emancipator.

Portrait focuses on the turbulent years of the Lincoln presidency. Scenes are woven together with narratives by the President, sometimes speaking in the present and sometimes in the past.

The one-man play includes Lincoln anecdotes, the letter to Mrs Bixby who lost five sons in the war, “Emancipation Proclamation,” “Gettysburg Address,” and excerpts from some of President Lincoln’s equally great speeches.

Lewis Dube is an alumnus of Yale University Summer Drama Program and has appeared professionally in numerous theater productions throughout the state.

The play is open to the public free of charge. East Hill Woods is at 611 East Hill Road in Southbury. Call 262-6161 for additional information.
