Richard J. Hurley

Richard J. Hurley, 69, of Willow Springs, New Milford, died on March 6 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Richard was born on December 23, 1933, son of the late Joseph and Mary Hurley. Prior to moving to New Milford in 1996 he was a 25-year resident of Monroe.

Richard will be missed by his son, Richard and his wife, Rachel, of Seymour; daughters, Kathleen and her husband, Brian Torreso, of Newtown, and Eileen and her husband, Mark Volosin, of New Milford; grandchildren, Brianna Schmitt and Fallon Torreso; sister, Elizabeth Mergens of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as an insurance adjuster, retiring in 1993, and was a 32-year member of the Commercial Union. He enjoyed collecting stamps, toys, and baseball cards.

A Funeral Service was celebrated on March 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 107 Kent Road, New  Milford, with Pastor Frederick Christian Bunzel officiating.

The Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, was in charge of arrangements. Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
