On The Passing Of President Ronald Reagan
On The Passing Of President Ronald Reagan
To the Editor:
I served in the US Navy Submarine Service from 1983 to 1988. He was my Commander in Chief. He made me proud to be an American and want to serve my country.
I went in the Navy at the age of 19 mostly due to the pride and respect that he restored in the military and the United States. I almost made it my career, never regretted a day, and I have been always been proud to say that I served under President Ronald Reagan Commander in Chief. I am still serving my country in the US Air Force Reserve and probably can attribute my strong American feelings to President Reagan and his belief in the people of the Unites States of America.
President Reagan was the first President I ever voted for and for all of my adult life it was comforting knowing he was there. I can now understand some of the things people felt in 1945 when FDR died or in 1963 when JFK was killed, it leaves an empty feeling. I never knew the man personally but somehow felt he knew all of us.
