Police said Bardelli refused to take field sobriety tests. Police charged Bardelli with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to drive to the right.

After Bardelli posted $500 bail, police released him for a March 22 arraignment on the charges at Danbury Superior Court.

Home Improvement

On the night of March 7, Newtown police charged Bill R. Leon, 39, of 357 Hammertown Road, Monroe, with one count of second degree failure to appear in court, with two counts of violation of the requirements of home improvement contracts, and with two counts of sales agreement violations.

The original charges stem from a 2004 complaint against Leon filed by a Sandy Hook property owner, police said. State consumer protection officials investigated that complaint.

After he posted $10,000 bail, Newtown police released Leon for a March 22 court appearance on the five counts.

Newtown police then handed over Leon to Trumbull police who wanted him in connection with another matter.
