With The Lions

To the Editor,

I would just like to publicly thank all of the Newtown Lions who have made my husband’s two year term as president such a positive experience. Paul has often said that all you have to do it pick up the phone, ask for some help, and the Lions appear.  Whether it’s a Pancake Breakfast, the Duck Race, taking the Mustang out, volunteers have contributed hundreds of hours raising money to help make Newtown a better place.

I would also like to thank all the board members who have had to put up with some of my earlier baking efforts until I discovered the joy of cooking with cake mixes! I still think some of you prefer Oreos to some of the desserts I’ve concocted, but you were always complimentary (even the time I know there were some ceramic chips that had fallen off the mixing bowl in the cookies – but I did warn you about that…).  And it was always fun to hear you all laughing during the meetings, yet you always accomplished a great deal.

A special congratulation is extended to Jon Christensen, who will be taking over for Paul next year. He has been an outstanding Lion and a dear friend, so the club is in good hands. And to Lydia, Jon’s beloved wife, may I suggest Betty Crocker?
