Bronze Star Recipient

Joseph A. Spiriti, 80, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Newtown, beloved husband of Martha (Marino) Spiriti for 53 years, died October 11 at the Charlotte Regional Medical Center. Mr Spiriti was born April 26, 1925, in Springfield, Mass.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, his daughter Nina (Spiriti) Gray and husband, Jeff (AJ), of Warren, Ohio, and his son Joseph A. Spiriti, Jr, and wife, Denese, of Miramar, Fla. His memory will be cherished by his granddaughter, Bianca, and two grandsons, Antonio and Dante. He is also survived by his sisters Gloria (Spiriti) Arganese (wife of deceased brother-in-law Ralph R. Arganese, Sr) of Trumbull and sister Yolanda (Spiriti) Capra and husband, Guy, of Trumbull; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Arthur and Josephine Spiriti, and his sister Mary Lucy Spiriti.

Mr Spiriti was a World War II veteran and a bronze star and good conduct medal recipient. He later became an entrepreneur and restaurateur for many years. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda.

A memorial service was held on Friday, October 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda.
