Flagpole Photographers Have A New Logo As Club Continues 2005-06 Season
Members of Flagpole Photographers Club assembled at C.H. Booth Library for the clubâs annual holiday party on December 9. After enjoying a potluck supper and opening grab bag gifts, a Club Logo Design Contest took place.
The purpose of the contest was to create a new logo for the club, which will help to identify club members. Ultimately the logo will be made into a club patch. Members submitted their designs and winners were picked by a majority vote of the club members present.
In addition to naming John Tucciâs design the new logo for the contest, Mr Tucci was presented with a $50 cash prize. Amy Martin, one of the clubâs youngest members, placed second and received a $25 cash prize. Third place honors, and a $10 prize, went to Vicki Boccuzzi.
The festivities continued with a âWhat is it?â photo guessing game prepared and run by Jim Talarino. Mr Talarino had photographed close-ups of parts of common household items and presented them on a slide show while members wrote down their guesses. Members enjoyed the activity while benefiting from viewing Mr Talarinoâs expert macro photography.
The next Flagpole Photographers Club meeting will be on Thursday, January 19, at 7:30 pm, at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.
The club, a non-profit organization, meets regularly on the third Thursday of every month, except during the summer. It is a great place to enhance and practice photographic skills and learn about the latest technologies. Family and guests are always welcome.
Membership is $20 and is open to anyone with an interest in photography, regardless of level of experience.
High school students can join for free.
Meetings generally include a special program and a competition for members. The January contest subject will be âTextures â Prints.â
