NMS Bomb Threat Proves Groundless
On the afternoon of Friday, December 7, police responded to a call from school officials at Newtown Middle School at 11 Queen Street to assess a potential threat to the building and its occupants.
Police learned about 2:15 pm that someone had scrawled some graffiti inside a student restroom at the school that amounted to a bomb threat, according to Police Chief Michael Kehoe.
An assessment of the circumstances of the case led police to conclude that the incident did not constitute a credible threat, the police chief said.
The school, which houses seventh grade and eighth grade students, was not evacuated, he said.
âAnytime thereâs a threat, we assess the threat,â Chief Kehoe said.
No arrest has been made in the case and police are still investigating, he said.
