SUV Hits SUV
About 10:03 pm on October 23, motorist Paige Best, 44, of New Milford, who was driving southward on South Main Street, slowed in preparing to make a left turn into a commercial driveway at 137 South Main Street, after which the Jeep was struck from behind by a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV driven by Megan Lamontagne, 27, of Danbury, police said.
Best received a possible injury. Lamontagne received an infraction for following too closely.
Larceny/Forgery
On the morning of October 20, after learning that police had a warrant for his arrest, Christopher Cyr, 27, of Bridgeport, went to the police station and was charged with third-degree larceny and second-degree forgery.
The arrest is the result of an investigation into an incident that occurred on Simm Lane on July 30, police said. Cyr was released on a written promise to appear in court on November 8.
Pickup Vs SUV
A two-vehicle collision occurred at a stop sign on eastbound West Street about 10 am on October 20, police said.
Motorist Ethan Garcia, 17, of Newtown, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, stopped behind a stopped 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV driven Dianna Pategas, 48, of Sandy Hook, according to police. The Chevrolet then struck the rear end of the Volkswagen.
There were no injuries. Police issued Garcia a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Three Warrants
After learning that police held warrants for his arrest, John Dosky, 26, of Sandy Hook, went to the police station about 3 pm on October 20 and was charged with three separate counts of second-degree failure to appear in court, police said.
Following arrest processing, police released Dosky on $1,500 bail for a November 6 appearance in Connecticut Superior Court in Danbury.
Truck, Minivan, SUV
State police report a three-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 84 about 4:54 pm on October 19.
A 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV driven by Michael Pietrantuono, 38, of Naugatuck slowed for traffic conditions, as did a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by Zoraida Figueroa, 39, of Waterbury, after which a 2018 Freightliner 8210 heavy truck driven by Justin Lavelle, 46, of Higganum, struck the rear end of the Toyota, pushing the Toyota into the rear end of the Jeep.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Figueroa to Danbury Hospital on a report of pain. Lavelle received an infraction for following too closely, state police report.
Audi Vs Mercedes
At about 6:38 pm on October 16, motorist Janet Robbins, 41, of Oxford, who was driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-30 auto eastward near 144 Mount Pleasant Road, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by an eastbound 2009 Audi Q-5 SUV driven by Deanna Thornton, 47, of Sandy Hook, according to police.
There were no injuries. Thornton received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Intersection Accident
Police report that a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Wasserman Way and the Exit 11 ramps for Interstate 84 about 5:27 pm on October 19.
The accident involved a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox SUV driven by Alison Monaco, 24, of Sandy Hook and a 2005 GMC G-5500 truck driven by Winton Nickerson, 83, of Danbury.
There were no injuries. Police did not establish fault for the incident. There was no enforcement.
Truck Vs SUV
About 8:19 am on October 18 on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 10, a 2016 Mazda CX-3 SUV driven by Krystina Lieder, 34, of Beacon Falls slowed to a stop for traffic conditions, after which the Mazda was struck from behind by 2012 Jino truck driven by Robert Demartin, 75, of Hackensack, N.J., state police said.
Both vehicles came to rest on the highway median. State police said Lieder reported pain. Demartin was following too closely and was driving an unregistered vehicle.
Interstate Collision
Motorist Jeralyn Longo, 29, of Oxford, who was driving a 2016 Ford Escape SUV westward on Interstate 84, about 1,000 feet west of the Exit 10 on-ramp, at about 8:47 am on October 18, slowed for heavy traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist David Anton, 33, of Shelton, who was driving a 2013 Subaru Impreza, state police report.
Both drivers received possible injuries, according to state police. Anton received an infraction for following too closely.
Rear-End Crash
About 3:33 pm on October 17, on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, motorist Darinisha Sheridan, 37, of Manchester, who was driving a 2014 Subaru Impreza, struck the rear end of a 1997 Toyota Camry driven by Jagruti Dave, 47, of Sandy Hook, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said Sheridan was following too closely and was driving under suspension.
SUV Vs SUV
About 5:33 pm on October 16, motorist Ka Sing Wong, 29, of Milton, Mass., who was driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV on eastbound Interstate 84, about 2,500 feet west of Exit 9, slowed due to traffic conditions, after which the Nissan was struck from behind by a 2015 Jeep Wrangler SUV driven by Luciana DeRosa, 41, of New Milford, according to state police.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Electric Car
Police report that at about 12:20 pm on October 10, motorist John Milton Thatcher, IV, 40, of Sandy Hook was driving a 2018 Tesla electric auto southward on Swamp Road behind a southbound street sweeping machine driven by Teddy Salmond, 37, of New Haven.
The street sweeping machine then attempted to make a left turn into a driveway and the Tesla attempted to pass the vehicle, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Thatcher for passing in a no-passing zone.
