A Change In The Wrong Direction
A Change In The Wrong Direction
To the Editor:
One of the best experiences about living in Newtown was having Mr Carroll as our bus driver. Having owner/operator school buses was a tremendous positive difference from the awful previous experience we had in the Trumbull school system. The drivers could not speak English for the most part and there was always a different person that made me uncomfortable to put a 5- and 6-year-old on the bus each day. When I was told she fell before she had a chance to reach her seat a few times, I drove her to school each day.
In contrast, Mr Carroll knew all the kidsâ names and their birthdays and sang songs. He is a gem. What a shame that Newtown is going the route of loser low-balled bus contracts. This does not bode well for our children. Just another sign that Newtown is changing in the wrong direction.
