Boy Arrested
Following an investigation into a motor a vehicle accident that occurred in May, police have arrested a 15-year-old boy on charges of reckless driving, driving a vehicle without a license, and making a restricted turn.
Police said that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, the boy turned himself over to police at the police station on the afternoon of June 5 and was arrested and processed, signing a written promise to appear on June 29 in Danbury Juvenile Court. The boy was placed in his motherâs custody, police said.
State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with such offenses.
At about 7:46 pm on May 2, police went to 9 Clearview Drive in response to a one-vehicle accident there.
Police said that the boy had been driving a 1990 Volvo 740 station wagon, which is owned by a Sandy Hook resident, westward on Clearview Drive near its northern intersection with Toddy Hill Road, when the vehicle went off the left side of the street, displaced some rocks and some soil, after which it struck a tree.
The Volvo continued traveling and then struck a group of trees. Ambulance volunteers transported the boy to Danbury Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Botsford firefighters went to the accident.
