My Place Defeats Fireside In Women’s Softball Championship Game At Treadwell Park

My Place defeated Fireside with a score of 10-1 during the 2009 Women’s Softball Championship Game, which was held at Treadwell Memorial Park on August 14.

A strong defense by Patrice Fahey, Stacy O’Donnell, Ruth Rowe, Lisa Dolyak, and Lynn Baylis, who pitched an outstanding game, held Fireside to just one run, which occurred in the first inning.

Fireside’s only scoring run was hit by shortstop Nina Ricciardi and it sent Stacey Gordon home.

In the bottom of the second inning, My Place’s Kelly Teraszkiewicz singled and Rowe reached first base on a fielder’s choice. Sandy Doski tripled, driving in a run. Jenn Good singled and Doski crossed the plate.

My Place had a strong fourth inning offensively. Fahey and Diane Lawrence had back-to-back singles. O’Donnell moved the runners and Teraszkiewicz’s fielder’s choice drove in an RBI. Ruth Rowe’s sacrifice fly to center added another run. Doski, Good, and Baylis singled to allow three additional runs to cross the plate.

Fireside’s offense moves by Laura Howard and Melissa Eigen were impressive.

Fireside’s defense team, Rabiya Ansari, Jody Morris, Courtney Waters, Gordon, Eigen, and pitcher Anna Christopher, put up a great battle but could not stop the My Place machine.

In the fifth inning, Dolyak and Lawrence singled and two runs were scored off powerhouse Teraszkiewicz’s double. Rowe singled scoring My Place’s tenth and final run.
